Layered Topography
Welcome to the virtual gallery for Layered Topography for the 50|50 Show at Sanchez Art Center in Pacifica CA (juried by Cynthia Lou) in 2026. With 50 artists, 50 small works created in 50 days! I’m selling each of the pieces I made (contact me), to benefit SAC, at the 50|50 Show from September 11 to October 4, 2026.
Artist Statement:
Familiar neighborhoods, hills and water, and the urban grid of my hometown inspired my daily process of making Layered Topography for 50|50. Each print is based on a San Francisco elevation contour map. I started by creating a unique stamping technique with tactile paper and acrylic paint. I used this relief transfer method to create smooth prints as well as woven and collaged patterns. As one day’s artwork led into the next, I would cut, tear, and weave paper strips from earlier prints to shape new pieces. I also reused my Braille text from another art installation. Now with layers of time, materials, and creative exploration, fifty novel terrains have appeared.

Materials: collaged and woven gel prints, “swell” tactile paper, Braille text, acrylics.
